Leaving @CastroPodcasts due to recent glitches post-database hiccup. Disappointed with the team’s unresponsiveness. A once fantastic app, but time for a change.
Despite Castro’s claim of being back online, backend issues persist. I’m still getting ‘Request timed out’ errors when refreshing my inbox for new episodes. Let’s hope they sort this out soon.
Update: We're back online now. You might still experience some slow refresh in the app, but it should get faster over time. Thank you for the patience! https://t.co/tWer7KudaV

@CastroPodcasts has been my go-to podcast player for years, and I’d be really sad to see it go. As a satisfied Plus user, I haven’t found a better alternative. Hoping they stick around.
The @CastroPodcasts database has been down for the past two to three days. Streaming and downloading podcasts are currently unavailable. As a precaution, I have decided to export my subscription data for backup. Unfortunately, the export feature is also not functioning due to the database issue. This is undoubtedly the worst scenario for both developers and users.
Used to turn off date stamps on film cameras because it was ‘ugly’. Now all these photos are like unsolved mysteries - no dates, just pixelated clues. My brain’s memory didn’t save the metadata either. Note to past self: aesthetics can be overrated!
Bracing for the summer heat waves. With electricity prices going up, it’s going to be a tough year.
Applying permissions to enclosed items is taking a long time on my drive. Wasn’t going to do that if ChatGPT hadn’t suggested it. The fault is all mine. Don’t trust AIs.
Spending an hour trying to fix permission issues on a network Time Machine drive. End up finding APFS volumes are not supported. Apple should add a warning to its support site.

Don’t trust the clouds.

“A Letter to Three Wives” by Joseph L. Mankiewicz
“42nd Street” by Lloyd Bacon
“Masculin Féminin” by Jean-Luc Godard
Trying out Raycast. I can see why it’s trending, but have a feeling that this might not work for me. Will use it as my main launcher for a while though.
I have no idea this exists: running shortcuts from the command line.

The shortcut for creating an Apple quick note is fn+q, which is not accessible with one hand on my keyboard. To change that, go to System Settings→Keyboard→Keyboard Shortcuts→Mission Control→Quick Note.
Since everyone’s gone for M1/M2 MacBooks, rants on butterfly keyboards become rare. I’m still using a 2019 MacBook Air, generally with an external keyboard. But on occasions I use the built-in butterfly, damn this keyboard is a frustrating piece of shit.
I always have Open Graph tags on my blog posts, and Mastodon knows how to read them. Like Ben Smith said in Dr. Drang’s update, images don’t show immediately. Buit it doesn’t seem right that some posts even go without an image for more than a day.

Google Search results have been shit for some time now, long before the release of ChatGPT. What really beats Google Search? Is it the new filtering algorithm? Or the exploitable SEO?
I used to AirPlay audio to HomePod with a keyboard trigger that runs an AppleScript, which is a hack. That script failed to work after an upgrade of macOS, so I thought a Shortcut should easily do the job.
Nope, “set playback destination” only works on iOS.
Trying to edit some RAW files taken on my iPhone. Photos refused to sync because iCloud is stuck and refuse to sync a 1.4MB file.
When it comes to showing vertical text, the same CSS still appears differently on major browsers. Out of all of them, iOS Safari is the most unreliable and has always been a problem.
PopClip is now on SetApp. Instant download.
Tried using the PWA version of Mastodon on iPhone and its website on the Mac. Had to find alternatives since it doesn’t have a “since you left” section and simply shows the latest toots.
Didn’t know Obsidian natively supports callouts until I saw Merlin Mann’s tweet. Time for me to re-read Obsidian Help and catch up on new features over the years.

Loving that I no longer have to switch off headphones to save battery anymore! Headphone wires are always tangled though….
Thought I’d added syndication link to my posts but obviously I had not….
Looks like my bluetooth receiver’s battery is dead. Since everything’d gone wireless, it’s the 3rd time that my headphones ended with a dead battery. I might go wired a dongle and stop worrying about battery for good.
Broken CodePipeline works again without me doing anything.
再度體會溼度對體感的影響挺大的,溼冷的天氣想辦法降低溼度就會好受許多。就能耗來說,除溼機也比暖氣機省電一些,只是不論溫溼度,要維持在理想狀態都挺難的。
Cross-posting from my static blog is now working through Bridgy and Telegraph. Basic webmention support is done, but haven’t gotten to display them yet. Really having fun implementing these.
Used to have an AWS lambda func webhooked to GitHub that automatically builds and deploys my blog. Stopped working one day. Didn’t have the chance to debug. Now I have no idea how it works anymore.
Test posting from Bridgy. Hope this works!
